I found the Mr. Dancealot had more than one central message. They were engage your students and let them practice. You cant teach something new to class that needs to be practiced and not let them even get out of their seats. Mr. Dancealot was a terrible teacher. Students were trying to understand the dances he was showing them. They were scolded as soon as they done an activity to try to learn. I do not agree with his way of teaching.

Teaching in the 21st century has definably changed. A good teacher should rethink the traditional way of teaching. We should use the best way for students to learn. Studies have shown that technology has improved the quality of learning for children. It all starts with the teacher and how they show the children the right way to use technology.

Below is an outline for the argument about technology.

I. What teaching means
A. Provide materials
1. Content, Facts, Dates, Formulas, Research, Theories, Stories, and Information

II. Role in student's life
A.Finding information
1. Anything, Anytime, Anywhere
a. Blogs, Facebook, Cell phones, Twitter, Wikipedia, Yputube, iPods, and Google
2. Limitless information

III. Teachers are no longer the main source of info, we are the filter

IV. Teaching students to use resources correctly
A. Show them
1. Validate information, synthesize information, leverage information, communicate information, collaborate with information, and problem solve with information

V. Facts or skills
A. Skills are what you have to make decisions
B. Creating (using) your skills
1. Blogging, pod-casting, animating, planning, recording, designing, programming, and skills taught
C. Blooms Taxonomy

VI. Where children learn
A. Friends
B. Teachers

VII. Ask kids how we use social media. Make sure they know how to use social media.

VIII.Collaborate class and internet

IX. Managing electronics
A. Manage just like you did with pen, pencils, and paper.

X. Lessons must be:
A. Relevant
B. Challenging
C. Engaging

XI. Introduction to technology
A. See what's out there
B. Start small
C. Collaborate
D. You must take risks!

I feel good about the way that teaching is changing, in words of technology. Teachers need to use the things that keep children engaged. Technology will effect me as an educator in many ways. I will use it to it will make learning more enjoyable and easier to learn.

Networking students need a teacher because they teach them how to build a network and show them how to take advantage of learning opportunities. they give them guidance, show them how to communicate properly, how them how to ask for help respectfully, how to tell between good and bad information, vet sources, and show them how to find exactly what they need on the web. In the teachers heart he or she truly hopes that these connections will last a lifetime.

The thesis for Harness Your Students' Digital Smarts is to be thinkers, use resources, learn from your student and let them teach you sometimes, and empower to share. I thought the idea shared was valid, but i could see a problem. What if the school you work for is in a rural community and they do not have the funds? Will these students be considered behind?

I believe elementary students are ahead in the learning race, compared to Dr. Strange's undergraduates and graduates.

I believe flipping the classroom is a good idea. The students will have more time to ask questions in class. They will have more time to go over material, rather than feeling left behind because they did not want to say anything because they would be embarrassed. It would give more one on one time between teachers and students to ask questions personally.

I can used the facts that first you need to identify the problem, then make a strategy, and ask questions to understand. It is an inauthentic way of learning. People become more involved with each other instead of just listening to the teacher go on and on.

Blog Assignment #1

I. My first impression of EDM310
A. How I felt when I signed up for the class
B. What former students told me about EDM310

II. My fears from EDM310
A. Forgetting something
B. Differences in EDM310 and other classes

III. Most Difficult things to overcome in EDM310
A. How shy I am
B. Overcoming my shyness

When I first signed up for EDM310, I honestly did not know what this class consisted of. When I found out from friends what EDM310 really consisted of, I became really nervous. I tend to become very frustrated with computers. I heard that this class was a lot of work and very time consuming, which does not bother me. Former students did prepare me by telling me the truth.

One of my biggest fears is that I am going to forget to do an assignment or project. If you miss one thing, it can change your grade, and I am not one to turn work in late. Another one of my fears is how different this class is from the other classes I have taken. I have never taken a class with a blog. In fact, I have never even read a blog. I am so used to all of my class materials and information being on Sakai or USA Online. Although I am nervous about these changes, I am up for anything new. As long as I follow the Checklist Dr. Strange gave me I feel like I can make an A in EDM310.

Click this to see my checklist.

The most difficult thing for me in EDM is going to be putting my feelings and say what I feel needs to be said on my blog. I am a very quiet person. I don't come out of my shell until I am around you for about a day. The one way I think that I can overcome these hurdles by blogging more and getting to know the people in my class. If I feel comfortable around my class, it will make it easier to post my feelings in my blog.

I. About me
A. Personal Info B. Where I lived before USA
C. Where I went to high school

II. My pastimes
D. My hobbies
E. My pets

II. College
A. University of South Alabama
B. Why education is right for me
C. An educator's job

III. Things to work on before teaching
A. Communication skills
B. I am not always right

My name is Sydney Reeves. I am a single child. I am from a small town about 100 miles north of Mobile, called Grove Hill. It is so small that the whole town has less than 2,000 people. I have lived in Grove Hill for my whole life. I graduated from Clarke Preparatory School. My school was one of two in Grove Hill. Clarke Prep, CPS for short, was the smaller of the two schools. My graduating class consisted of eighteen people, including myself. I cheered at CPS for more than 6 years, and I ran track also.

I love being outdoors. My Dad is who originally introduced me to the outdoors. I enjoy hunting, fishing, riding four-wheelers, and riding horses. I especially love being outside when I am playing with my dogs. I have two dogs, a weenie dog and a lab. My weenie dog's name is Susie. My lab puppy's name is Benelli.

I chose the University of South Alabama, because I love how even in a big town, like Mobile, I still get the home-town feeling. I also like USA, because if I do want to go home it is not a major decision. It only takes one and a half hours to get home. I chose education because I truly love kids, especially from the ages of six to ten. Kids don't judge you on how you look. They take you for what you are, and how you act towards them. They haven't learned about stereotypes, unless from their parents. In some instances I believe an educator's work has changed. For some students, an educator is the only steady thing in their life. They look to you for big decisions, or things they don't want to tell their parents. Before most kids will open up to you, you must earn their trust. As a teacher I plan to be a shoulder when kids need one, but I also want to be that one steady thing that kids need. Kids are my passion. I have babysat for as long as I can remember. If I could make a living babysitting, trust me I would. I miss the kids I babysit terribly when I move back to school. Those kids become a part of your family, especially when you see them every day.

One of the things I need to work on before I start teaching is my communications skills when I get aggravated. I am the kind of person that just walks away when I get agitated or mad. I need to learn to take a couple of deep breaths and compose myself. I also need to learn to see things from other perspectives than my own. I know there is more than one way to do things, I just need convince myself that sometimes my way is not always best.
